Well we felt like a day out doing somthing different. So we went on the West Somerset Steam Railway. We departed from Bishops Lydeard, a few miles from Taunton and got a return ticket to the seaside town of Minehead. Bishops Lydeard has ample parking and a station shop selling lots of railway type items old and new a nice... More

Lovely to meet such friendly enthusiasts who work so hard to retain the railway of a bygone age for the benefit of future generations to experience.

This is a lovely ride through beautiful countryside, stopping at some interesting towns. The staff were all very friendly & helpful. It is situated near the seafront, and has much rolling stock including steam and diesel locomotives. The scenery is beautiful and the towns & villages en route pretty and interesting.

We have been on several steam railways, as our son loves them, and this is one of the best for service, price and quality. All the staff were extremely friendly. The price was reasonable, especially as under 5's are free and our son is only 4. All the stations look very well maintained and are staged really nicely, with things... More

I took parents and my 3 year old son to the Fireman Sam day last weekend. We boarded at Bishops Lydeard close to Taunton and with day rover tickets were able to get on/off trains as we pleased. This is a great railway visiting some lovely locations. My son was delighted to meet Fireman Sam at Minehead. Prices were reasonable... More

The whole visitor experience is excellent. All the station stops are immaculately maintained and well worth stopping at and exploring. We travelled from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead- stopping at Dunster to explore the Castle. A 2 hour stopover and the walk from the Station to the Castle is for the fit as it is uphill the whole way. Then on... More

A gift from the family had us on the railway on a Rover Ticket. We were very impressed with the standard of service from all the staff. The volunteers really looked as if they were enjoying themselves! The journey up the line to Minehead was through breath-taking countryside. We were able to hop off and walk and then back on....
