My husband uses a scooter and this attraction was quite suitable to visit. There are ramps and a designated path to use. You can go anywhere in the 23 acres but sticking to the paths seems sensible. Very peaceful and tranquil and left in parts to nature's own path so can seem a little unkempt. We liked the Tropical house... More

It is less than a year since the Isle of Wight Council handed over this garden to an educational trust because they could no longer afford to subsidise it. That is why there has to be an entrance fee. The first priority of the Trust has been to create a separate cafe and restaurant. I have frequented this garden for... More

Weather wasn't great when we visited, so there weren't many flowers out, which was disappointing. The whole place was nice though, very peaceful and lovely to enjoy the fresh air and walk up the coastal path. There are lots of benches around the place so you can sit down and enjoy the quiet, and it was interesting to see lots... More

Very poorly signed coming from Cowes. The whole place - apart from the visitor centre- seemed very shabby and unkempt, particularly the tropical house, all in all a disappointment having travelled travelled across the island!

Probably not at its best on a grey, damp day and suffering comparison with the glorious colours seen at Osborne in the previous day's sunshine! BUT for anyone interested in national species from around the world, well worth a visit. Different areas are planted with the typical species of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Mediterranean etc and the walk around... More

We visited on a wonderful sunny day and were able to just wander among the trees and plants. I had read a very negative review about the gardens, but I have nothing negative to say.....a pleasure.

Went very early in the season, so didn't expect much plant life. But the indoor tropical room was totally neglected, debris floating on the slimy pools, chairs dumped in the entrance, dead leaves hanging off the sad-looking palms. Evidence of a party with streamers left in a pile of rubbish, it was clear that nobody had bothered to pay any... More

New charges, new cafe menu, bit chaotic and had the feel of a village hall plant sale when we arrived.

The gardens are so much better since the Council handed them over to a trust. You can go from tropical to arid, and then oriental to medicinal. I loved the Australian section and the New Zealand section. it was pure delight to get lost amongst the plants. Tea rooms are good too
