Was a little wary or going her, sort of what history? Pleased to say mistaken and there is so much and something for everyone. Not just a rainy day location. Well worth a visit for background history of the Isle of Man. Interesting artifacts on display. For motorcycle fans Joey Dunlops bike and special section and display dedicated to the great rider.
The Manx museum is a great starting point to visitors on the island as it introduces you to all aspects of the island, geology, geography, archeology and history and it is FREE
I had heard about the museum, but was impressed about the range of material and the quality of displays for a museum this size, also extremely well provided with cake and book shop - and places to sit down. Great, not only on a rainy day
easy to park as car park very close to museum and if disabled able to park in museum grounds. Very well laid out and very interesting also nice to visit the café very nice coffee and cake
Absolutely excellent free museum, covering local arts, culture, geology, history etc. usually a special exhibition also. Have coffee or lunch in the Bay cafe after. Great.
Very interesting film about the IOM. Helped us decide on things we wanted to see especially geological features, natural history and ancient crosses and gravestones. Very interesting displays. never seen so many Viking coins. We had lovley home made soup in the little cafe too. Will return as we reached saturation point. Definitely worth a second trip.
