Good displays of the hard life in the past. Useful tip !! Instead of walking around the town, use the lift beside Iceland multistory car park and a short walk... More

I had heard about the museum, but was impressed about the range of material and the quality of displays for a museum this size, also extremely well provided with cake and book shop - and places to sit down. Great, not only on a rainy day

Very interesting film about the IOM. Helped us decide on things we wanted to see especially geological features, natural history and ancient crosses and gravestones. Very interesting displays. never seen so many Viking coins. We had lovley home made soup in the little cafe too. Will return as we reached saturation point. Definitely worth a second trip.

This is a fantastic museum which provides much information on the Islands' history and character. The building itself has been renovated - making it a very comfortable environment to enjoy (all ages catered for). On a wet/windy/cold day, its the perfect haven and the coffee/snack shop (reminders of Charles Rennie Macintosh styling) sells well-priced snacks and meals to accommodate all... More

Whether you wish to shelter from the rain or just enjoy a museum then this is the place for you. Close to a multi storey car park with reasonable charges this museum will enthrall you and provide a good insight into the history of the island.
