This is a great small museum filled with the most incredible pottery...maybe the best in the world. The pottery is so wonderfully artistic that we were stunned!
While not as showy as the Royal Tombs, this little gem is worth a look if you are interested in the area. Burning was one of the earliest excavators (as opposed to looters) and the displays are largely his discoveries. It's a good story and the artifacts are always interesting.
For me, it should be #1 museum to visit in Lambayeque. It is not as dazzling as Tumbas Reales museum, but it presents the originals, not copies, and a LARGE collection; around 1300+ items of Moche, Chavín, Vicús, Inca cultures and others. Some pieces date of more than 10,000 years ago.
