This is a truly stunning engineering and architectural feature. The visitor centre is worth the visit to gain an appreciation of the scale of the design and construction complexity.
If your route takes you anywhere close to this engineering marvel, you should take a detour and see it -- and cross it. Stop at the visitor center, but then drive down through the town of Millau and see the bridge from several different vantage points. From a distance it looks like a fine piece of art made of lace,... We have crossed this wonder of engineering many times and are always gob-smacked by it. The best approach is going south. You cruise round a long bend on the autoroute and there in the distance is a sight to remember. Just amazing, and no wonder the French are proud of it. I love bridges and this is one of the most beautiful I have seen in person. It was the main attraction for our trip to the midi-Pyrennes and it did not disappoint! An amazing architectural wonder.

This is highest bridge in Europe, good viewing centres on top and bottom of bridge. Well worth stopping off for.

Very impressive and cool to see from different spots. We spent the whole morning looking at it from different view points. The highest pillar is almost as high as the Eiffel tower. Do not miss this.
Stayed in Millau and drove out of town to the west on the D922, had to use the GPS when the whole city was covered by fog, came out of the fog about 100 meters before the bridge and there was the fantastic and overwhelming bridge. Found an information center just 50 meters after the bridge, I would recommend visiting... More
