We visited the calanques by a boat the first day, and we hiked the second day. The views are stunning. The beauty is out of this world. You have to be in good physical shape for the hike: the rocks can be very slippery: so pay attention, and use a stick if you have one.

There are several versions of a calanque-tour. You can go by bigger boats, by canoes or by foot. We chose the boats. Here you can choose from 3-5-8 calanque-tours (30 mins, 1 hr, 1 1/2 hrs accordingly). We took the middle one (cca. 15 EUR). Loved seeing the inlets and how high the calanques really are from sitting in a boat perspective!!! The water was a bit choppy but our female captain did a wonderful job of keeping to the time table of 45 minute trip doing so much more smoothly than I had thought she could do!! Great adventure.

Absolutely gorgeous view and wonderful nature. We have a choice of visiting 3, 5 or 8 calanques. I think 5 is sufficient - the boat ride takes approximately 1 hour.

Really rough seas the day we went so we only covered two Calanques. Woud reco longer trip that allows for swimming etc providing conditions allow.

take the 1 1/2 hour tour, unless the wind is blowing 30 knots, then take foul weather gear. This is the thing to do in Cassis when you tire of hiking and people watching.
