The National Gallery has great exhibitions, but it also features a wonderful collection of Sidney Nolan's Ned Kelly series. If visitors enjoy the harshness of raw concrete architecture that lacks harmony and appears to have been designed by a committee, then they may appreciate the building that houses the national art collection in Canberra. I personally am a fan of the Sculpture Garden which is great for a picnic as it looks out over the lake. The NGA has a great collection and is always worth a visit. The shop has some nice gifts but go to the National Portrait Gallery across the bridge for coffee or lunch..... More
