We stayed at a hotel here and loved waking up to the sunrise each day. Coogee is a beautiful beach with great views of waves crashing on rocks, pristine beach, and a great selection of cafes and restaurants. It was a great place to stay to enjoy a slower pace for a bit.

Nice to be by the sea for a while. Full of backpackers though. Nice walks available to/from Coogee. Beach is big and nice.

Love the atmosphere here, great waves and clean beach not far from city. Great looking people, nice tan, great bodies....

This beach has one of the most spectacular coastal walk! I like the laid back style of the beach. Everyone just relaxing and it's totally an Australia lifestyle.

It is smaller than Bondi and waves are not as high. That's better for swimmers, like me. There are plenty of good restaurants across, and there's a natural pool suitable for snorkelling. There's also a beautiful park and a cliff that provides the most beautiful view of the ocean and the beach. I liked it more than Bondi and Manly.

Coogee is simply part of the Sydney lifestyle - how much better can it get?! Public transport, no entrance fees, you might be sunbaking near a politician or a plebian. The beach is a great equaliser.

What's good about Coogee - good transport (a frequent bus service to the city), good cafes and restaurants and a good pub across the road. White sand and a relatively calm surf beach. Coogee can have strong surf occasionally, But Wedding Cake Island, a rocky outcrop off shore protects it from some of the heavier swells, so it is a... More

Oh this is such a lovely place! This delightful rock pool which is refreshed by the sea each high tide is at the bottom of some cliffs and reached by steps. A pleasant experience with pregnant ladies swimming there, women feeling they dare swim topless without being ogled and the whole atmosphere relaxed and well behaved - as you'd expect!... More

This is another of the beaches overrun with crass commercialism in the surrounding shopping area, and with drunks and other antisocial types in the beach and parkland areas. To be fair, the antisocial behaviour tends mainly to be at night, and you may be lucky enough to escape it in daylight, which at least makes it better than Bondi where... More

In February, 2013, my wife and I, while visiting Sydney, spent half of one day at Coogee Beach. The value of Coogee Beach is you can visit it and get a feel for a Sydney beach several miles south of Bondi Beach, which may lack the amentities and shopping of Bondi, but which has an Aussie feel about it. It... More
