- JohnstannoSingapore, Singapore377 contributionsGreat place go get souvenir! We bought our souvenir here as it is much cheaper compared to tourist attraction spots. If you are getting souvenirs in bulk such as magnets, key chains, hand towels etc, this is the place i would recommend. There are also discount if you purchase more. You can also get clothing, fresh fruits or vegetables, nuts etc here too.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 July 2023
- Travelove5811,338 contributionsGreat place & Best place for huge range of cheap souvenirs.Basically an old flea market, with a section selling fresh fruits & vegetables. Not very big place, its a part of Market City mall building. Many stalls are empty, understand Paddy Market will be relocating to another location nearby in few months. Supposedly most tourists like us come here just to buy the huge range of cheaply priced souvenirs. There are few souvenir shops here ( always crowded) & prices varies with each shop, for certain souvenirs. Check out before buying. Other products are not worth considering, really. Prices of similar souvenirs sold here are much cheaper than shops in Melbourne & also cheaper than in Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market. But QVM is so much bigger & has many more different products not found here.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 August 2023
- LisaToronto, Canada260 contributionsMust do for SouvenirsAwe went specifically to get some souvenirs for people abroad. The price are excellent. I paid $50 for 2 men's embroidered polo shirts and 3 t/shirts (2 of which have sparkles). There are all the usual souvenirs at great prices. Throughly recommend to go there for great prices on these items.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 November 2023

Currently closed on Mon. & Tue. so check opening days first. We knew about this place and it was also recommended by the tour bus driver as the best prices to get souvenirs; but compare prices as stores sell the same thing for different prices. Lots of space for more stores. This place definitely has the best prices for souvenirs.

Stop paying unbelievable prices for souvenirs in circular quay. Probably half the prices as downtown and same stuff. Lots and lots to choose from

We had a wonderful hour shopping for souvenirs at paddys market! The best values anywhere.. especially for things for our grandkids. A lot of booths were closed or empty. Wednesday morning.

If you are looking for inexpensive souvenirs from Australia, you can probably find it here, and can bargain if buying many. Key chains, linens, stuffed animals, socks with pictures, hats, clothing; a lot of it is made in China.

We spent almost half a day wandering and window shopping around China town, Sydney. This is expected of me when I am with a group of female companions who like shopping at a foreign land.
One moment, I found myself browsing on some beauty products and nutritional supplements in a Chemist Warehouse at Haymarket; the next moment, I found myself in a Giordano outlet buying winter jacket at discounted price along Barlow Street near the Central Railway Station. Lunchtime, we had our meals at Mangkon Road, a Chinese-Thai restaurant at George Street. After lunch, we wandered to this Paddy's Market for souvenir hunting.
Paddy's Market is big, and you can find all sorts of items on sale, from apparels, toys, hats, souvenirs to fish, vegetables and poultry meat. It is spacious and clean with wider aisles than Pratunam Market in Bangkok.
We bumped into an ex-Singaporean who migrated to Sydney 30 years ago. He now operated a stall at the Paddy's Market selling some souvenirs and belts after his retirement. From our accent, he could easily discern that we were from Singapore and was very happy to see us as if we were his long-missed friends. He lamented that this was his very first time communicating in Hokkein to his customers after 30 years in Australia. His siblings are still in Singapore, but he has not travelled back to Singapore for some years. He is already 80 years old and not as physically fit as before but he appears to me still healthy and fit. As a welcoming gift, he gave us a good discount for the belts my wife bought from him. No matter how far apart, Singaporeans seem to have a distinct identity and we could easily reconnect when we suddenly met in foreign lands.
Brick and mortal stall business in Paddy's Market is facing acute competition from e-commerce. The younger generation prefers to purchase their products from online rather than shop around at the market. Our ex-Singaporean lamented that many stalls had closed down due to deteriorating business.
Although our visit to Paddy's Market is a short one, it is a memorable one having able to connect with our ex-Singaporean friend and his Hokkein is so perfectly of Singaporean accent though he had migrated here for 30 years.
The Singapore root is like indelible tattoos etched on one's body and followed where you go.

Not open Monday’s and Tuesday’s, opened a bit later on the cold windy day I was there. Only some stall owners will bargain/barter. If going do not miss the Chinese Gardens. Very close by and I was awed by the peace and beauty, so calm, such beauty, don’t hurry, meander and look from different angles or you will miss some truly beautiful sights. One of my favourite memories of Sydney...
Is there eftpos available in the market section?

A few stalls might have EFTPOS, but mainly it is cash.

Usually fixed prices except if you’re buying a couple of items from the same stall holder.

Has anyone purchased luggage/suitcases at Paddy's Market? Are they cheap? What's the quality like? Thanks.

Yes, they are cheap, $49 for a large 360 degree rotation type. Quality is passable, need to check the sewing work thoroughly. I have bought one there last month to take extra souvenirs back to my country. Will be bringing it for future holidays too.
Hi,
I would like to know if Paddy's night market operates on every sat?
I came across the facebook post, it stated operates only on 1st sat of every month.
Abit confuse.
Thanks!

Can you park at markets

Hi Yes there is parking there but it is very expensive. No underground parking at the market as it is at sea level. Best way is to take a ferry or a bus or have a friend drop you off.
