His guests get a unique behind the scenes insight into how the best wines of the Hunter Valley are made, with private guided tastings of the top wines at the best & most interesting of the 140+ wineries. Richard conducts the wine tastings, not the sales staff at the wineries, so you are spared the heavy sales pitch of their commercial wines & get to experience many wines not offered to the general public. Morning tea is at the famous Peppers Guesthouse & lunch is at the award winning Muse Cafe. Tours are available ex Sydney or from within the Hunter Valley. « less

I've been on several wine tours in the past including California, Chile, Argentina, and Miami (just kidding about Miami) and I have to say I really enjoyed this one. I felt it was real informative and relaxing wine tour. If your goal is to visit a ton of wineries in a single day this is not the tour for you.... More

My girlfriend and I both enjoy a good glass of wine, but we didn't know how to "appreciate" the subtle nuances of a good glass. Richard's tour provided us not only a great learning experience, but he also explained to us what goes into making the wine, the grapes, the aging process etc. Richard is very knowledgeable and our first... I have to say I really enjoyed this wine tour. Richard was a fantastic guide and really helped to immerse you in the history of the Hunter Valley region. The lessons on proper tasting techniques were also an added bonus. My girlfriend and I were picked up from the rocks, Sydney, and it was about a 2 hour drive to... More

We choose this tour as it indicated that it did not visit the touristy cheese, chocolate type places as it was a wine tour. Richard picked us up from our lodge at the agreed time and with the only couple we had a coffee and cake stop at Peppers where we had a chance to get to know Richard then... More

Richard collected our family of four (2 daughters in their 20s included) from the US for a private tour at the Marriott Circular Quay. The drive north was beautiful and informative. We stopped for a respite at Peppers for delightful coffee and treats, also walking the grounds, snapping pics of the wild kangaroos and discovering pepper grows in bunches on... More

Excellent day with an extremely knowledgeable, affable host. Would be very happy to do this tour again. Previous reviewers have given very accurate descriptions of the trip, those that didn't enjoy were on the wrong kind of tour! Thanks Richard for a great day.

Great wines and company....well worth it! Thanks Richard Richard provides an amazing amount of information on wines and the areas you visit. It’s nice to travel with a small group of people. The Hunter is a beautiful place so worth taking a camera with you and as it’s a long day it’s so worth having a good breakfast before you... More

We spent a really enjoyable day in Hunter Valley with Richard. Our Hunter Valley experience started with good coffee, balmy sunshine and a great plate of scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam at Pepper's Guesthouse. Having lined our tummies, Richard brought us to Tyrrell's (a working winery with a fantastic family history to boot) where he showed us the... More

This is not your wine tour where your going to over drink, this is an amazing wine to educate and brush up on your wine knowledge. When we made the reservation we told Richard we had our 1 year old who would be joining us and he was completely fine with it and accommodated our day with an infant. We... More

Richard provides an outstanding day of wine tasting. The 11-12 hour experience is concentrated in 2 wineries and a great restaurant, but a taste of more than 20 wines. After the introduction to acquaint us with the sensory steps in wine tasting, we were poured multiple flights of 2 to 3 wines to compare side by side. This was a... More
