It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest. We often see platypus, birds, possums, tree kangaroos, insects, frogs, owls, reptiles, various invertebrates and other animals on our tours. As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal, a night element and spotlighting is included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide. « less

We absolutely loved this tour! We started our tour admiring native birdlife, Kangaroos and Wallabies just outside Cairns. During the drive to lake Barrine it was great observing the landscapes changing (the variety of eco-systems in the Cairns and Tablelands area is impressive!) Once arrived at Lake Barrine we enjoyed the view of the volcanic lake eating yummy scones with... More

We had no expectations on this tour, we didn't know what we would see, if anything, wildlife can be she, but we were not disappointed. Terry took us on a tour of White Rock, a suburb of Cairns, to see Wallabies and Ibis in the wild. He then took us up to the Atherton Table Lands to see platypus in... More

If you love nature and the outdoors, this tour is definately one to do. Even though I live up here, it never cease to amaze me how beautiful this area is. Veiwing native animals found in suburbia right at our doorsteps such as wallabies and many native birds, to winding our way up the range overlooking stunning countryside. Adrian our... More

A wonderful experience in the rainforest, very interesting and amazing. Terry, the guide, is so friendly and knows a lot of things about rainforest and its animals. We eat excellent "scones" and the/coffee in a the saloon just front of Lake Barrine, and the evening, a great meal in a pretty restaurant, with excellent food. Small group, comfortable bus, good... My girlfriend and I recently went took part on Wait-a-While and can not speak highly enough of it. Terry's knowledge, enthusiasm and eye for wildlife was absolutely outstanding and he put it across in such a relatable way we were totally engaged and never once felt like you were being read to from a text book. The rainforest comes alive... More

My Dad and I spent our first day in Cairns on this tour and it was a brilliant start to our time here. Our guide Terry was lovely and very knowledgable as well and made our experience a good laugh as well as interesting. Food was delicious first starting with afternoon tea at a gorgeous lakeside spot and then onto... More

Terry was absolutely brilliant! He was incredibly informative and knowledgable, and his superhuman vision in the dark allowed him to spot tree kangaroos up metres in the air in the dark, tiny fireflies and illuminated fungi. Great choice of food too: scones at a teahouse and spectacular dinner at Nick's. Very comfy ride in the luxury 4WD. Without a doubt... More

Hi Bernard L, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm very glad you enjoyed your tour with us and we look forward to meeting you again and sharing our piece of paradise. The wildlife you see is some of the best Australia has to offer and being endemic you don't get to see them any where... More

We had a very enjoyable afternoon and evening with Adrian as our guide. He was very knowledgeable about the animals and plants in the area and we managed to spot a good selection of wildlife. Snake, Insects, Pademelon, White-tailed rat etc. Would definitely suggest including this tour in your itinerary if you're staying in the area and are interested in... More

An absolutely enchanting experience with Adrian as our guide. It was a stormy day yet he magically made it personal and a rich experience for us. Adrian is very enthusiastic, funny and passionate. He knew everything about everything and we thoroughly enjoyed our time on our tour to the Atherton Tablelands! More

My friends and I booked a trip with Wait-a-While, and at that point in our trip, I was tired of tours and almost backed out. I'm so glad I didn't. Our guide was incredibly knowledgable about the animals that we were seeing, and could answer our questions (we're biologists) in detail. He even brought salt along to remove forest leeches!... More
