Easily accessible by public transport, wildlife from entire globe. the butterfly house is amazing. Take your kids here, they are oing to love it.
The zoo itself was amazing and very child friendly. While some of the major displaays were closed, we still filled in a full day and loved the animals, particularly the lions. One of the things I would change would definitely be the food menu...as well as the extremely loud, irritating music in the cafe. Other than that - go for... More
Love the zoo, so easily accessible by train and the zoo caters for everyone. Lots of animals to see and lots of animal encouters and shows to see. They are continually changing and upgrading the zoo and we noticed on this visit they are building a lemur exhibit. The animal areas are wonderful and the staff who work here at... More
A lot of construction happening , a lot of exhibits , closed , not many AUSTRALIAN animals to see . The monkeys was alright , as was the birds , the orangatans was a big padock full of ropes , poles etc , but no animals . you walk forever to see the elephants , past many empty barns &... More
I have always loved our Zoo in Melbourne. It is in a beautiful area, readily accessible by public transport, which drops you right at the gate or by car, with plenty of parking available. Private coaches have their own parking space too. From the minute you go through the turnstiles, you are transported into this peaceful and beautiful space. Lots... More
Wonderful zoo, I always enjoy going there! When in season, the butterfly house is a real treat, just gorgeous!!! Highly recommended!
We make many visits to the zoo each year and continue to be knocked out by the high standards here. The enclosures are amazing and it's lovely to see animals in such wonderfully natural environments. The elephant display is stunning. The butterfly house is a must, wear bright clothing and you will have lots of interest from the butterflies!
I have been here many times and also visited zoos overseas. Melbourne Zoo rates extremely well. It is well laid out, clean and tidy. Information about the animals is clear and easy to understand. The zoo educational section run excellent programs. The Australian section is wonderful for overseas visitors - but look for the platypus enclosure - people sometimes miss... More
I have visited this zoo a couple of times and have always thoroughly enjoyed myself. They have tried to make as much as possible the animal habitats realistic and of course comfortable for the myriad of species there. If you have the opportunity to go do not miss the butterfly house as its a wonderful experience!
Spent a lovely afternoon at Melbourne Zoo with family and friends. Easy to get around, was on level ground and mostly shaded so that you didn't get too warm. We were lucky enough to be there whilst they were moving the elephants. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Melbourne.
