We spent 2 hours at the museum and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, although the exhibits that we would hoping to see was not ready. Will visit it again one day!
Scienceworks is a favourite with our family. The interactive displays provide hours of pleasure to a great range of ages. The exhibition is very well set out. Special displays are always worth the trip
Check the program on line to see what displays or shows are on If school holidays it can be packed so buy tickets in advance to beat the crowds You can take picnic as food is expensive and more junk food than real food have a great time
Science Museum in Melbourne is a very decent Museum for all ages if you have some interest in Science. Kids will love it, a lot of interactive scientific games and other items are there. One can spend 4-6 hours in the museum. From the City of Melbourne it is on the other side of the mouth of the Yarra river... More
Although many of the exhibitions in Scienworks vary and change to keep everything fresh, they are certainly aimed at children and young teens. Although, this doesn't prevent the older generations from enjoying themselves and it is definately a recommended attraction, including the Planetarium and pumping station on the same grounds.
We went to Spotswood when the Stars Wars had their exhibit on and we thought is was fantastic. We have been back since and they always have activities on for the kids. Best to ring up for times so you can plan your day.

Kids learned a lot of new stuff with all the hands on activities. Perfect for a variety of ages and safe environment so can run around pretty freely. Williamstown beaches only just around the corner so combine for a full day out! Pity that Planetarium is an additional cost...
I've been to questacon in Canberra before, and most of the exhibits here are the same. Good fun to explore and learn about all sorts of topics- a pretty cheap day out for kids big and small! Definitely worth doing the planetarium as well- the commentary there was a little dry, but such amazing visuals!
