have been a few times and loved the wearable arts that were on exibition the first time i went, was disappointed the second time when it wasnt there. cute little cafe that has gluten free foods too
the history of the spa building is fascinating and well represented by the written information and displays; the Maori museum was also very well presented and takes hours to see properly. Allow at least 3 hours for all
The movie experience about Tarawera eruption was great... Really enjoyed the guided tour and was very good to know about maori culture...
Perfect entertainment for a rainy day in Rotorua. The movie experience about Tarawera eruption was great, although if you're from Christchurch be warned that the theatre shakes like an earthquake during the movie - warn your kids.
The bathhouse was fascinating - they've done a great job of bringing it back to life.
The other displays were also well done,...

Like the title I would have stayed for hours, two hours not quite enough, it is worth visiting. The ANZAC Maori Battalion display moving. Thank you.
Cool old building but we didn't learn a lot. Hopefully the steep entry fee will go towards updating some of the dated exhibits. Worth a visit more for the architecture and history than anything else. Creepy Maori exhibit, we were pleased there was some water there for us to cleanse the tapu, Creepy old baths too, and we never did...

I dont really know what I came away with knowing, staff seemed to be pleasant, but I dont know what I learnt!
we usually do not visit museums but were pleasantly surprised at the Rotarua Museum - it is interesting and the video played with the earthquake simulation is great. Views of the gardens from the top are great too. Would recommed a visit to the museum - does not take alot of time too.
What a gorgeous old building - we did not realise it was the museum until we drove past and curiousity made me want to look. My son and I loved it we could have spent a lot more time there but the teenage daughter did not enjoy it so much. Well worth the visit.
