Considering how out of the way this zoo was to get too I guess I expected more. I had already been to another wildlife park in Tasmania and this place did not compare. The animals seemed miserable. The keepers didn't seem knowledgeable. Half the cages were actually empty or had different animals in them than stated and it was a... More

When we arrived we were greeted on a car park that looked little better than a junk yard, and a tacky gorilla theme park looking sculpture thing. We made it to the front desk, where I was grilled by the women behind the desk about the ages of my two sons ( at the time they were 2 1/2 and... More

A visit here results in a pleasant 2-3 hours on wandering around the exhibits. The dinosaur walk is an interesting addition to the park and very enjoyable. Overall very good but should be cheaper in my opinion, see below. Not somewhere I would pay to go to again in a hurry. Found the price quite too excessive though given that... More

I left this zoo feeling so sad at seeing such miserable animals living in a third world zoo. The water left out for the animals was mouldy and clearly old, they were scratching continuously and obviously not getting basic treatment. The theatrical talks about the Tasmanian Devils were all for show and not teaching and educating the public about these... More

We went to the zoo early in the morning, so there were only very few people and we were able to view everything without the pushing and shoving like in other crowded zoos. There were so many species of birds, monkies, etc., but what I liked the most was being close-up with the Tasmanian Devils and the little Blue Penguins.... More

Although very expensive for what you get, our family had a great time getting closer than you normally can to some cute animals... Our kids love animals and they weren't disappointed 😀

Just like the many other reviewers say here, this is not a good zoo. It is so sad to see these animals locked up here in this desolate desert like place. I realise that the keepers do their best and are clearly fond of their animals. There is also a laudable program of conversation of the Tasmanian Devil. But the... More

This zoo rates poorly in my view. No seniors, students or pensioners concessions available ( I am none of these). Many enclosures were either not labeled or mis-labeled or animals were not there - eg koalas. Also, the bird enclosures were poor and many birds were under obvious stress from lack of space, water baths or dust baths.Overall, the worst... More

The main reason we visited the zoo was to see the Tasmanian Devil! We thought it was great being able to see all the wildlife that live in Tassie plus a few ring in Monkeys. Can't wait until they finish thier renovations and get in some more animals. Great spot to take the kids for the day!

Needs urgent government funding. Very lame. Marketing should reflect the incorrectly named "zoo" as a wildlife park with outdated enclosures. Devil feeding was enjoyable. But still extremely overpriced for what you actually get out of it. Cost $80 or so for a family of two adults and two children. Overall greatly disappointing.
