This is a small provincial museum but it really tells great stories of the art, culture and environment of Manawatu. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and it's really child friendly.

We came for a quick visit in December, mainly so I could take my son to the Santa cave that I have fond memories of as a child. He was amazed at some of the mechanical displays but a little worried about the merry-go-round and Santa. We then had a quick look at the kids area on the ground floor.... More

Te Manawa is a place were most people will learn something new with each visit. It is great place for children and caters fora wide range of interests. has strong local flavor. The stain glass mural worth a look, and ask the staff about it.

Lots to see, helpful staff and The Rugby Museum is on same property. Close to town and buses. Good opening hours.

This museum is well worth a visit. Over the years it has been expanding and now it is not only a museum but all in the same area is the science centre, art gallery and the N Z Rugby Museum

We spent 2 hours with the inter-active facilities for little people and it was a 100% success. Building a wall and carting bricks up etc, plumbing with removable pipes was my grand-children's paradise and my easy way of entertaining them. We didn't go to the Rugby Museum as only child was interested so will do that with him some other... More

We had a look at the exhibition but really came for the reception which was fine. The catering was good and we had a laugh at the young man who argued with us over the pronounciation of "Merlot". he insisted we pronounce the 't'. He was all of 16 and we chuckled.

It was a cold, rainy day in July and I took my 10 year old to Te Manawa. It was the perfect indoor activity! HEAPS to do and lots to learn about as well. The kids can run riot while the adults slowly walk around reading all the plaques! Highly recommend this if your kids are looking for something to... More

It was actually the ground floor of National Rugby Museum but it was absolutely interesting me and my friends. Walked around and learned more about the life of Manawatu region and its history. A must-visit place for those who would like to travel to Palmerston North.
