Put this on your list of things to do. You need to check out the listings in advance as they do not have regular screenings. This is how the movies used to be, they even have intermisson!! You may not see the latest releases but it is worth seeing something again just to get the experience.

It's one of those old school new zealand movie theatres, not very big, maybe 100 seats or so in total and they still have intermission :-) Time to get yourself some popcorn and candy...great prices! This Art Deco theatre is closed more than it is open. There are very few shows that this theatre hosts and I suspect i might not be long before this theatre closes. That will be a pity as it is an historic building and if possible it should be preserved.

Fair pricing at this great theatre. Situated on the waterfront and offering a retro feel, the Theatre is very quaint and cool. Makes a nice change from the big theatres in the cities

What a rare treat, an old fashioned cinema with the old projection booth upstairs.....and right opposite the ocean for 'half-time'.....congrats mayfair.

A movie theatre like they were in the "old" days. Very comfortable. Felt very welcome.

Went to see War horse & thought would no be great but sound and picture quality good and lovely atmosphere, was a bit wierd when film stopped in the middle for an interval, but was quite quaint
