A short walk up to the top of the falls, with a few seal pups in some pools on the way. Once at the top there are loads of pups all splashing around in the water, sitting on rocks and playing. It is fabulous for adults and children - and it's free!

The site that greats you at the top by the waterfall is just AMAZING. I couldn't believe how many baby seals there were and so far up the stream. It takes about 10 minutes easy walking up stream but definitely make sure you get all the way to the top as it will keep you mesmerised. We did not want...

A little gem of a natural attraction. Best in the cooler months and not on weekends when there are many to "share" your experience. The seals come right up close and the photo opportunities are awsome
I have been here twice now and each time it is exciting. A lot more seal pups this time and about 30km north of Kaikoura. Not to be missed when either staying at Kaikoura or passing through. A must for all tourists.
Great to watch about 50 seal pups frolicing in a poll below a waterfall. About 20 minutes north of Kaikoura and a10 minute walk up a track.
We saw so many seal pups, I could sit there and watch them all day, beautiful!!! Aren't we very lucky to have such beauty in our country and free to view, very fortunate!!!
22km north of Kaikoura amazing seal pups plays just metres from you. Look for the Oahu water falls and take a 700 mt walk and just be totally amazed with this world class viewing of seals pups playing along he river and in a pool under a waterfall
Waterfall walk is beautiful and the seal pups are just adorable. Definitely worth a side trip to see this. You are able to get very close and it's truly amazing.
I wouldn't have known about this place if one of my friends hadn't taken me for a visit. It's a short walk from the road and a little slippery underfoot, but that's all worth it for the experience when you get there. I have never seen so many seals so close in all my life! The pool was practically made...

For no entry fee and a very short walk you can experience one of the most amazing natural attractions anywhere in New Zealand. Baby seals frolicking, playing, fighting and sleeping almost within touching distance in a magical valley in a waterfall. Sounds like a fairy tale and I hope it can continue, as long as the visitors respect the rules...
