There is a Budapest history museum and Hungarian art museum which contained some very well put together displays. Note that the History museum ticket should get you into Aquincum as well.. which we didn't realize and ended up paying twice. These museums are in the quieter palace section of Castle Hill. We spent best part of a day there. I... More

This was a good area to spend a few hours. My suggestion is to visit it in the morning during the summer as it is cooler, there are some nice food outlets and many attractive souvenir shops offering some traditional crafts. The table cloth designs can be hand crafted and show great skill. Many different sizes are available. A nice... More

Stopped off here on the bus and had a wander round, the views were stunning and found a lovely café which served cakes. Sitting in the sunshine people watching it couldn't get much better than this.

I went up on the funicular - a great way to start. Then the guard outside the Presidential Residence were fine upright young men, totally undistracted by the tourist attempts to disturb them On the walk right round to the Church at the other end, there is a terrific shop for blouse, shirts, souvenirs that I go back to every... Must visit! Try and plan your visit early in the morning. After 11 it really becomes a tourist-place but still a great place nonetheless. Beatiful buildings and lots of history.

You can see all of Budapest from here - both sides of the river. At the Castle there are 3/4 attractions - definetly at least half a day here.

It's a good little hike to get up here, but there's plenty to do. I didn't go into the museum, but St. Mathias is beautiful on the outside- the architecture is amazing! There's plenty of shops and restaurants around to get a bite to eat or get some souvenirs. Take the time to go to the hospital cave too if... More
