Not to be missed. Absolutely mind blowing. Do not go all the way to Krakow and miss out on this. More

Don't go here until you've seen Krakow's sights and been to Auschwitz, but if you have extra time and can walk down a couple hundred steps (up is by lift), then it's worth it. The guide was informative and quite humorous. The salt carving are amazing, but realize that some of them are quite modern. The most amazing thing is... More

I recently visited the salt mine with a friend on a trip to Krakow. We caught the public bus which I must admit was not easy to find but once on it was less than £1 return for the 30minute or so trip out to Wieliczka. The mines are pretty expensive by polish standards 68zl (more than Auschwitz which just... More

When you are in Poland it is really a "must see" attraction. Renowned and well maintained, originating from 13th Century old Salt mine, with underground lakes, chapels, sculptures etc. Beautiful chandeliers, all decorated with salt crystals. Very professional staff, charming guides speaking perfect English. You will spend about 3 hours, take some warmer clothes, as the temperature is around 14... More

If travelling from Krakow take the 304 bus - it goes directly there and is very cheap. There is a good guided tour and our guide spoke excellent English. The mines are quite expensive (69zl + 10zl for taking photos) but so impressive its well worth the cost. They dont warn you about the lift you have to take out... More

The scale of this mine is something else, sculpture, lakesand the quality of the carvings is exceptional. The stairs down go on for what seems like forever but not too daunting as they go down in a rectangle 10ish steps landing, another 10ish steps landing etc. so you aren't looking down a long stair way. Fortunately there is a lift... More

I felt that the salt mine was interesting but it didnt need to be 2 and a half hours long! Yes some of the sights were interesting but the 10 ZL for photograph privilages was abit shocking! I didnt pay and still took photos so they must be trying to trap people! I felt it took far too long to... More

We had planned to take the 304 bus to the Salt Mines and pick up a guided tour once we got there. However at the last minute we decided to go with Crakow City Tours - and we are so glad we did! When we arrived the 'independent' queue was about two and a half hours, while there was no... More
