Great tour though an amazing land mark. Wish we could have checked out the Capitol's private transit system.
The skinny:
Parking- nothing we could see near the Capitol
Bathrooms- facilities on each floor
Food- a cafeteria where the food is subpar and there are hundreds of teens
Gift Shop- one on each level
Visitor Center- easily can spend 1.5 hours on displays
Tour- great!!!!
If you get a chance to go, book a tour through your senator or...

We were visiting Washington, D. C. for the first time in our lives. We contacted our congressman and his staffer made a reservation for us to tour the Capital. The tour guide asked everyone where they were from. He then greeted each one in their own language. He also remembered each state the rest of us were from. When we...

It certainly is fun to see the seat of the US government, but the tour is quite limited to just the public areas. We were told that the nest time to go is late January to early February as the crowds are minimal. It is a treat to see the house or senate in session so be sure to arrange...

Plan ahead for this one. Check to be sure Congress is in session, then contact either your congressman or senator for tour arrangements and passes to the galleries. Seeing the houses in session was an eye-opener, if not always a positive one.

No liquids, weapons, etc. we had a tour of the crypt, and different areas. I liked the statues from all the states. The best part was going to the gallery. Of course, typical politicians,...

Definitely need to go to visit to see where are laws are created and passed. Need to sit in on a session. Very interesting. The paintings in the dome are a worth see.
After doing a bit of research the day before our visit, we found that there were no available spaces on any of the tours. Nevertheless we thought we would do a quick walk around after our visit to the Library of Congress across the road. The building and grounds are beautiful and we found out that there are almost always...

Seeing the US Capitol post 9/11 requires planning ahead. You contact your congressman and their office arranges the date and time of your tour based on when you'll be in DC. The visitors' center is beautiful once you pass through TSA-like security, and the pretour movie is very well done. The tour itself is very basic, only about 45 min...
