Sadly, I only allowed one day to visit this magnificent place. The park has 70,000 acres with a little something for everyone. I only visited the visitor center, walked the steps down to a scenic overlook to take pictures, and drove the scenic loop. There is only camping in the National Park, but cabins available nearby as well as rafting,... More

The New River Gorge is a scenic area that can be either thrilling or relaxing- the choice is yours! There are many ways to experience the breathtaking views & natural beauty of this area. The most obvious stop is the Visitor Center by the New River Gorge Bridge, the overlook is amazing. However, that is just the tip of the... More

we have been to the area numerous times, including the overlook, But nothing compared to driving down the narrow winding road leading down UNDER the bridge! Even in Feb when the trees are barren the rock formations and waterfalls are beautiful! Glad to be a West Virginian!

We travel through this area 2-3 times a year. We ALWAYS stop at the visitor's center to stretch our legs. We stop on our initial trip as well as the return trip. It's just so beautiful! The center provides a neat little history of the area including a short film if you have a few minutes. (I believe it's less... More

This train ride was well worth the price of the ticket. We purchased tickets for the dome car as this ride was taking place in the fall. It also happened to be Bridge Day so as we passed under the bridge that spans the Gorge, we saw bungee jumpers and parachuters. We also were served breakfast (good) and dinner (a... More

You can view the bridge from several different spots and all for free. Take a drive down and see it from the bottom. Simply amazing!

This is a trip well worth taking. Talk about absolute beauty. When you walk down to the observation deck ( between 170-180 steps) and feast your eyes on the mountains and that magnificent bridge you can't help but go OMG. I'm so glad I got a chance to see The Gorge. West Virginia is beautiful state.

Our first whitewater rafting was amazing on the New River in southern West Virginia. The guides were supportive, fun and clear. The river is beautiful! The views of mountains, bridges and a gorgeous river are spectacular. The area is rich with the history of early train travel as well as coal mining. The local folks were warm and extremely helpful... More

We arrived at The Gorge in the morning and spent a few hours in the welcome center. The view is AMAZING! Make sure to allocate some time for a drive down the mountain. The roads are narrow so take your time and enjoy the scenery. Once you get to the bottom, you will see the old bridge that is hardly... More

We stopped by the Gorge on the way from Louisville, KY to Hopewell, VA on Sunday, April 21. We stayed in Fayette, at the Quality inn, and had dinner at Dirty Dicks Ribs. Would have been a great trip except on Monday morning, we awoke to 2 inches of snow, more coming. Had breakfast and a quick view fo the... More
