My favorite of the museums. It was once stagecoach stop then became a winery and private home. Lots of old carriages and wagons to see include a still function horse drawn hearse.

I have enjoyed visiting the Bernhard Museum several times. It is an excellent example of what life in the Gold Country was "back in the day" for people with a good income. The exhibits inside the home are interesting. There are often activities for all ages. I suggest calling ahead or looking on line if you can.

This was definitely worth visiting. They have a guide that walks you through the house and explains all of the history there. It really makes it come alive. Better than walking through and reading signs. The guides are dressed in the costume of the time. There is no charge at all. There is just a jar for donations. Also, there...
