You could not find a better place to learn from a great teacher (Juan) nor enjoy a wonderful meal from a truly gifted Mayan cook (Abelina), and even one of us was vegetarian. The chance to learn about sustainable farming and the history of Mayan cacao is the central focus of the visit and you can experience it first hand:... More

We went with friends and family and boy it was quite an education. We loved the authentic Mayan setting and the tour guide/owner was very knowledgeable. This place comes highly recommended and next time we visit we'll definitely sample the chocolate chicken.

Juan and Abelina run an amazing chocolate organisation where everything is organic and the best ingredients are used. We went on a tour arranged by TIDE Tours - we turned up at their main building and were immediately treated to different kinds of chocolate that they make and 'do-it-yourself' hot chocolate where you could add sugar, ginger, chilli and cane... It is all about chocolate and so much more. I never realized a tortilla could be transformed so many ways. It can be boiled (amazing with black beans and rice), cooked in oil to make fry jacks (delicious with pineapple jam) filled and baked with chocolate, cane sugar and coconut (incredible) or simply thrown on a grill. We learned to... More

Juan and Abelina were the most gracious hosts. We arrived about 30 minutes late with a flat tire to boot. That didn't stop us from having a very quaint, personalized tour. Juan welcomed us and showed us the cacao pods growing from the trees. He led us through their backyard full of chickens and a couple of pigs, where we... More

I had a fantastic time at Juan and Abelina's chocolate factory. They really spent a good couple of hours taking us through the history, the traditions, and teaching us how to make chocolate, which tasted great... The the chocolate they sell is a dream as it melts in your mouth :p My boyfriend and I stayed in their bunk house... More

This tour is a well worth trip. The Ixcacao Mayan Belizean Chocolate is the best chocolate I have ever had. On the tour we were given samples of hot chocolate, cacao wine, and pure dark chocolate. The demonstration of the "old" way to make chocolate was very interesting, with each guest having and opportunity to grind the chocolate nibs on... More

We had a delicious Belizian meal and had fun tasting chocolate that we got to make by hand in the traditional way of smashing it on a stone.

It is in the jungle, in a small building on the road, and I have to say-go in, get the tour, and leave with amazingly pure, almost 100% cacao at amazing prices! The selection by far will satisfy any cacao lover! I bought almost $50 (half for American dollars-$25) and all my chocolate friends and family members were amazed at... More

I've been there yesterday and I still have the taste of the dark chocolate in my mouth. Also try the coconut one; it's simply delicious...
