The lake is lovely and well worth a visit. We discovered 3 ways to view the lake. 1) Large tour boat Q100 each and you visit Santiago, San Antonio and San Pedro. The boat is slow and you have limited time at each place. You also are with a large group of 'gringos' and therefore get harrassed major by the... More

Our hotel at Chichicastenango was a converted Nunnery. A very lovely place with very large bedroom and a very large bed and bathroom. Breakfast was included so we had breakfast in a lovely dining room overlooking a courtyard filled with flowers with lots of pots and hanging baskets plus a few parrotts. They have quite a large market here on... More

As you approach, you will look off to the right of the road., and there., ., that is Atitlan Lake., framed by villages that surround the area., but., the size and depth of the lake is outstanding, quiet and peaceful. From the beauty to the corruptness in the shadows ., because of internal struggles in the country at that time.... More

Lake Atitlan is surrounded by a variety of large and small villages all with their own unique experiences. As you descend down into Pana you will be wowed the entire time by the amazing views of the lake. You can hike for weeks or more. So many things to experience or simply take each day being wowed by the sunrise... More

Atitlán is one of the most amazing lakes in the world, and its visit is really worthy. But if you really want to enjoy it and keep it among you best experiences, DO NOT hire the shuttle services of ATITRANS, the most unfriendly and rude company that I have ever known about. They wanted to leave my 77-old friend Elisabeth... More

Lago Atitlan is awesome...no problems here...definitely visit! However, we took a shuttle with this company to Antigua. It definitely doesn't go door to door, we just got dropped off on a street in Antigua and left to find our way ourselves (luckily, locals are wonderful). Also, the driver tore open my wife's rucksack, letting everything from the top pocket spill... More

Clear blue waters. Three volcanos. Eternal spring-like temperatures. Fascinating Mayan villages with beautiful traditional textiles. Enjoy!

My fiance' and I visited Antigua for 3 full days, one of which was spent in Lake Atitlan. Lee Beal coordinated our entire trip, from pick-up to drop-off! We had such an amazing time....it was a beautiful experience. He was so knowledgeable of customs, history, and the people; we couldn't have seen or enjoyed the things we did had we... More
