This is a large, beautiful local Taiwanese temple. My hotel was just up the street and it was an easy walk. It was a fascinating place to people watch. Huge number of people were walking in and out and praying. Fruit/food offerings were constantly being left. The incense was intense, so may not be a great place to go if... More

Where I was staying was only a block away, so I was able to visit the temple over the Lunar New Years eve, joining hundreds of others, who wanted to light an incense stick and say a prayer for the new year. It's a really beautiful, old, famous temple which attracts hundreds of devout believers every day.

This temple was less crowded than the Longshan and right of the MRT stop. Very beautiful. I recommend going to several temples. They each have a different character and charm. I liked the cleanliness here.

Visited this on a weekday morning and was amazed by the large number of people here worshipping. It was a beautiful temple, photos can be taken of course but be respectful.

visited this temple in the middle of the weekday and it was packed with people. This temple is used by people praying for financial help or success and I would say its one of the less decorated temples, if pressed for time, I would visit the other temples instead. Takes about 20 mins to see it. FREE.

This temple was vey busy when we went, full of prayers and devotions. The oddness to me was from people forming long queues to have their spirits cleansed by devotes of the temple. in Japan these things seem to me to be done rather ritualistically without people necessarily 'believing' what they are doing. In this temple I had the feeling... More

Yeah this is a nice street, close to the river bank. Do not miss the Xiahai City God temple at the south end of Dihua. For veggies, there is a vegetarian food stall next to the temple wiyth good dishes and very low prices and free miso soup.

Though not nearly popular as Longshan Temple, this place is just as peaceful. Dedicated to a deity you pray for success in business or war, it's larger than Longshan and has fewer worshippers. There is a large courtyard with 2 cauldrons. Take one of the informational leaflets and sit on a bench in the corridor. Read up on the history... More

I love this place. I used to go all the time. Dodge the fortune tellers and enjoy the simple rituals inside. The Koi ponds are lovely.

Spent a few hours walking around the shops here before the food carts came out. From my understanding, the food carts are the major attraction here which come out after 530-6pm. We were just walking around doing some shopping and had seen some of the food carts being prepared, but as we had just finished a late lunch, was not... More
