It was incredibly hot so take a lot of water, wear cotton(you must cover your arms)& take an umbrella for shade. Take an extra memory card because we took SO many pictures! You cannot take pictures of the actual Buddha but of everything else, including the palace, the guards, the surrounding temples etc. The history is amazing - you should... More

We only went to this, the most holy and revered temple in Bangkok and loved the experience, as an insight to how much the Thai people love their royal family and Buddhism. Our guide was great, taking us under the model of Angor Wat as this is perceived as lucky by the Thai people - explaining the links between Hinduism... More

Bangkok has a lot of temples and I tried to see most of them. This one was highly recommended and with the expensive ticket price, I was hoping to be amazed. I was not. The place was packed with tourists and they came in large groups. It was chaotic. I tried to avoid the crowd to appreciate the Temple of... More

We hired a private guide to take us around. Cost around £40 for the both of us but it was well worth it. He was extremly knowledgable & interesting & really enhanced the trip. Also acted like our personal photographer. More

It was interesting to see the connection between religion and government while at this temple. There were many devout Buddhists there offering praise to the Buddha and even more tourists to see the sights. Certainly worth seeing once for a tourist. More

Despite this place is super busy it is part of the Grand Palace complex and well worth visiting. Dress covering shoulders and knees is OK, long pants for men...or there is a free hire with deposit you get back when you return your pants. 350 bath entrance fee covers the entire Grand Palace plus entry to Vimanmek Mansion. As others have said, the Emerald Buddha is not very big but it still huge in terms of being made of solid emerald. The crowds get pretty big - go in the morning or evening rather than the middle of the day. Be sure to dress modestly. More
