Bangkok used to be filled with criss crossing canals. That's when boats outnumbered cars. Now there are more cars and roads than most people want. This canal is the only water way left with public transportation. It's a lot faster getting there than in cars. No boat traffic. More

We, a couple, did the Khlong Tour in Bangkok. It was intressting to see a driffrent and older part of Bangkok. Houses, some very damaged, stand in the Khlong. There are a few boats selling things, but just useless stuff as you get in Khaosan or Phadpong. The tour took over an hour inkluding visiting Wat Amon (Templa of Dawn).... More

The canal boats and the buildings next to it are not pretty, but you get a definitely different view of Bangkok and its people. The boats are also at some times of the day a brilliant means to bypass the traffic jams on the Ramkhamhaeng Road while traveling to e.g. Central World. Not recommended for people without nimble feet and... More

It's definitely faster than driving, as you know BKK heavy traffic, but it's very bad in the way of polluted water and its foul smell. If someone accidentally falls into the canal,... More

1. One or more foreigners can often be found on the boats. Just study how people get on and off before you try yourself - have good walking shoes and steady feet and hands (and don't overly rush yourself) when stepping on and off. People have been known to fall into the "not-quite-pristine" canal waters! This can be the fastest... More

If you want a cheap way to avoid the traffice, try the boat services. Here is one canal with ferries every 5 minutes; Pier of Boat Service in Saen Saeb Canal Piers: 27 Piers Tickets: 5-15 baht by distance QUOTE 1) Phan Fah Leelart (terminal, a bridge to Bangkok City Center) 2) Bo Bae (Garment market - second only Pratoo...
