Very interesting museum containing a wealth of history and knowledge, particularly liked the reconstructed village huts in the grounds.

This is a very interesting museum that gives an insight into the different sub-cultures in Vietnam. Some very interesting displays and the traditional houses are great and worth the visit alone! Also be wary of cab rip-offs- always choose Hanoi, Hanoi Tourist or mai linh for the cheapest and safest ride!
I work in Hanoi, and drive past this place every day. So I finally decided to go for a visit. Despite the fact that there is no air con and it was 40 degrees, it was still a great excursion. The inside is very informative.
It's the outside though, that gets you. The reconstructions of minority villages are fantastic. As...

We had great fun together. All the houses from all over the country are displayed here as one huge collection. We already figured out our next destination to go thanks to this interesting visit.

It is a vast museum and the information overload is intense...

I think it's very interesting as we get to learn a lot about Vietnamese but I think they can do better with their South East Asia exhibition. If you like Kuching cultural Village in Sarawak or Bangkok's Rattanakosin exhibition center, you will definitely love this place too!
Well worth a visit and a relatively short taxi ride if staying in the old quarter. There are examples of the different types of houses in the grounds outside and interesting exhibits inside.
We have just returned from Sapa where we saw many of the ethnic groups which are described in detail here. The museum is very interesting inside if a little arm but the buildings outside are outstanding. Which we had gone before our trip to the Highlands. Your taxi driver may need some help in finding this as it is off...
