Cholon has changed dramatically in the past decade, from when I first visited it. there are still interesting temples and places to eat but the local vibe is being replaced by high rises. Get there soon.

Comparing to other Chinatowns, I would say this one is just a poor version. Quiet nice temples in the area but think Vietnam has more to offer. Not worth the time to get here. If you imagine this to be like a Chinatown in Singapore, San Francisco then you are in for a disappointment.Far from the city center and the...

filthy, expensive, hot clammy misery. People drive like hell in Vietnam but Chinatown is particularly wreckless and dangerous. Food here can injure you (someone from Boston got a chipped tooth from a rock in the sandwich) i can't see why anyone would go here. It's a terrible hell hole

Cholon has little to offer that you can't get elsewhere in Ho Chi Minh City but trying to negotiate your way through the traffic is more of a nightmare than in the central Saigon District. There are a quite a few pagodas originally built by the Chinese community that offer a slight haven from the chaos but none of them...

Not much chinese culture, just mainly a massive market that was very very busy. It was tightly packed and mainly a wholesale market, meaning if your not interested in buying 100 of something, they're not really interested in selling.
We stayed about an hour which was more than enough. The closest thing to chinese was a lantern store... run by...
