What a wonderful national park. I came here when there was still plenty of snow on the ground. The views and peaks can give the Alps a run for their money. The services are very basic, but hiking is a great activity, for a good workout and awesome views. More

The drive is a little long, but it is worth it. The air here was so pure and it is amazingly calming. They say no open fires, but it seems that is not very enforced. We had a picnic up there, and it was fantastic! This is a must see if you get to Bishkek. More

I did a day hike out to the waterfall. Not much of a waterfall but the valley is stunning. The path gets very steep (and is badly marked - turn left at the first sign, just after the main river path starts). Take water and food (although the lodge does ok cheap lunches) and rest regularly.
