Wear comfy shoes as there is a lot of walking (up and down hill). Try to enjoy the scenery and the peace of mind away from the city. Take little breaks in the local cafes! More

Bukchon village, Hanok houses, old style Korean architecture. Very little remains of this type given the vast destruction during the Korean War and the phenomenal development including massive skyscaperisation in last 15 years or so. The houses are occupied and very upmarket but exteriors have been largely retained. Its a long walk up and down hills, but there are plenty... More

The Korean Government has actually paid the residents of these ancient Hanok traditional Korean houses to have them restored to mint condition. As a result, they are now a tourism attraction in their own right. The area covered is quite large, and needs to be covered on foot. Do also visit the Bukchon Traditional Culture Centre for a briefing on the... More

This was a nice area to walk in with some nice traditional architecture, however, you aren't missing much if you can't fit it in to your schedule. We went on a Monday as all the museums were closed and enjoyed the walk, stopping in lots of the small cafes. But this isnt the most memorable part of my trip. More

I didn't find anything special about this place. Descent walk with a view of many Korean traditional buildings, but those can be found in many other places. Go to Changduk palace (the palace next to Bukchon), and skip this place. I wouldn't not recommend it. If you are looking for somewhere special, I would recommend Korean Folk Village. Yes, the... A great walking tour, but the maps need to be updated to reflect current workshops and a better idea of where to go for seeing specific things. More

It is generally quiet here if you leave the main street which has little worth visiting. There are a few examples of beautiful architecture here but I believe there is talk of destroying them for more profitable construction. Few people seem to visit the area. More
