Jingshan Park is renowned for its artificial hill, constructed from soil excavated during the construction of the Forbidden City's palace moat. From the hilltops, you can enjoy great city views.

The park is located right at the northern end of the Forbidden City and offers a nice addition and us a lot more quiet than the former Palace. There is a little mountain from where you can get a lovely birds view of the Forbidden City and the rest of the area.

We ended up in this park when the Fobidden City was sold out. Even though it was not our original destination, it surpassed expectations! The tea room on the East side is a great cultural gem.

The park is just behind the Forbidden City.
It is a very typical Chinese style park, which means it is well cared for and laid out very well. The temples are typical in the Chinese style, as you will see in hundreds of places, but still nice. The view of the Forbidden City and the rest of Beijing is why you come to the park and make the climb, it is the highest ground in BJ. It is not a huge park and will take you only a short period of time to walk around, but you can easily spend much longer wandering and exploring. Admission was 2RMB, needed to show our passports to get tickets. Likely nice place to view sunrise and sunsets. Certainly worth the visit.

There is much to see at Jingshan Park. On this visit we walked the zigzagging paths, enjoyed the flowers in the gardens, walked to the hilltop for the awesome views of the Forbidden City, and visited a temple.

Don't think you can enter this park as any other. As many things in Beijing it is complicated!
Apparently this park is worth the view over the forbidden city on a non-polluted day.
We were not able to confirm this since staff did not let us in via the different entrances.
Indeed, as I read you need to pay a small fee of 2RMB/Pax BUT you need to make a booking calling a number the day before coming to this park!! Impossible to buy a ticket on the spot for the same day!!! How ridiculous is that? Although the park looked more than empty!
The staff follow this rule is will not give you any explanation or even dare to talk with you (even in Chinese), they gonna show you an A4 paper where it s written in EN/CN "call this number to book for next day". They are super unfriendly and rude!
How are you anyway supposed to know you need to book to enter a park with a ticket price of 2rmb!?? My guess:only local people or tourists with organized tours...
We felt very frustrated for a while. Some other Chinese tourists as well I can confirm!
I share with you the number hoping you will have a nicer experience...

Opposite the exit of the Forbidden CIty, the climb to the top gives a great panorama of the city.
The park is a restful place to cope with the buzz of the city and the heat .
There are some beautiful temples to see in the park itself
Entrance fee a few RMB - worth the fee.

I walked around the park with a friend and you can travel to the top which oversees the forbidden temple across the street. Very nice, we had to make reservations during this time.

This park was built on the debris excavated when the moat surrounding the Forbidden City was dug many years ago. Since that time it has become overgrown with mature trees and there are numerous paths you can stroll on. At the very top of the highest hill there is a small building from which you can get a great view of the Forbidden City to the South and Olympic Park to the North. It seems to be a favorite for photographers. Definitely a beautiful place to relax and get a 360 degree view of Beijing.

Good Day
Will this park close like most other public tourist places in Beijing do to coronavirus?

This park is not closed but there’s a possibility it will be closed since you need to buy tickets to get in. Forbidden City was closed.

Hi Daisy, there are bicycle rental companies, like Bike Beijing and the others, but Beijing does not allow riding in the parks. If you want to ride a comfortable tour around town and learn what's going on: check in on WanLin Bicycle Tours and join one of the tours they have. They provide bicycles and show you around. Have fun in Beijing!
