It was so beautiful and exciting when you imagine how this wall has been construed. You should have Hiking shoes too.

Yes, its worth it. Simply stunning to do this and will live with you for ever. Its a fair drive from the centre of Beijing, around 2 hours with traffic. When you get there, use the loos at the bottom, some are western, but bring your own paper. Then get the cable car up to the wall, avoiding over 1,000...

We hired a driver from the hotel and got there just as it opened. It was worth the early morning to be the only people on the wall. It was so quite and wonderful. I am positive I had a different experience from others as I have seen the pictures in summer in the middle of the day with heaps...

Mutianyu was a great section of the wall. It's a bit further than other sections, such as Badaling but it should be less crowded (although be aware - the Wall is always crowded). Important to note: Mutianyu has extremely steep sections which you have to climb - not for those who are out of shape.
Worth the extra time to go to Mutianyu, not so many tourists that you are tripping over them. Easy to get great photos without other people in them. Whatever you are expecting, it is ten times better. What an experience, one you will never forget. One of the best sights in China and that is saying something.
The wall, once you get to it is steep with steps of various heights. I am 53 and no thrill seeker but I would recommend taking the cable car up and the slide back - the sled thingy has a brake so you can slow down whenever you want (but no stopping to take photos) The views are awesome and...

What an amazing experience. I was there last month and spent four hours at the Wall. It was about 1 1/2 hours north of my Beijing hotel. After being in the city for a while, I just wanted to be "outdoors". I took the cable car up and toboggan my way down, which was exhilarating after a day of walking....

We hired a driver to take us here and well worth it. The trip from Beijing was about an hour and a half but it went by quickly. Once there it was magical. The experience will say with me forever and the cable car ride up to the wall and the Toboggen trip down was fun fun fun. The only...

My first time on the Wall has been in Badalin, the most touristic part of the Great Wall. This time I would like to see a different side of the Wall, a more autentic side, and Mutianyu is exactly this, less touristic than Badalin and with the chance to see also a non-rebuilded part of the Wall. Ask the guide...
