It's just a clock tower in the middle of a high-traffic shopping area. It's more or less the focal point of the Jiefangbei shopping district, but there's nothing historical about it. If you're in Jeifangbei at night, come take a picture in front of the monument because it's kind of cool. But don't bother going out of your way to... More

Not worth to make a special trip to see it but if you're in the town then you can't miss it. There are lots of luxury shops around the monument and you can feel specially at the night little bit like you are in New York!!

The monument is just a small one in the middle of the shopping area. Lots of upmarket shopping malls.

Near the memorial there are luxurious shops such as LV, Gucci and stuff like that. We were there in the evening and it looked really nice, but nothing special.... If you have limited time in Chongqing, I would skip this square and memorial...

This tower is a symbol of the liberation of chongqing from the Japanese. It is located in the center of jiefangbei, the downtown of the city. The plaza is full of local tourists. This is supposed to be a park-like walkway but cars still cross. Surrounding the monument are tall modern buildings housing high-end brands like Gucci , loui vuitton,... More

The monument USED TO BE the tallest tower in town....that was about 15 years ago, things have changed. A source of pride for Chongqing, as it was rebuilt many times during WW2 after being bombed. The people here rebuilt it to show they could not be defeated. The plaza around it is the activity center of downtown.

It's just a monument in the middle of the square with a big clock on the top. There's nothing to tell you why it's there or what it represents. Find a local Chinese to tell you. I wouldn't make a special trip to see it but if you're in Chongqing then you can't really miss it.
