If you like a bird's eye view of the city of Jakarta, Monas is a place to be, especially in the morning. I can only complain about the airconditioning at the base museum but the experience of going around this place was worth the while.

When living in the hustle and bustle of the city, it's easy to lose the "helicopter view" of the city. The MONAS elevator takes you straight up where you encounter a 360 view of the city. There are labeled photographs at the top of each window which helps you identify the key buildings in each section of the view. It...

The MONAS is beautiful. Even if you speak none of the Indonesian language, all you have to tell your Bluebird Taksi Driver (others are at best, suspect) is MONAS! and they will take you right there! There is a lot of walking, so have your walking shoes. LOTS of vendors are present to buy bottled water, and snacks along the...

During sunny days it is hot in monas. I like to go here on sunday night because there is performance of light-water mountain every saturday/sunday at 7:00 and 8:00 PM
The monument itself is by no means the main attraction here ( it's actually pretty boring ) . There is a very good museum and beautiful parks , and I had the added bonus of visiting on " no car day " which seems to be once a month . It might be best to visit when the kids are...

Jakarta impress little bit much when it comes to observing from the height. There is always pretty long line of turists waiting for the lift - approximate time of waiting is 0,5 -1 h. Nice park / surroundings of the monument, well maintained and clean which is not frequent to see in Jakarta.

Very colorful, but a lot of people, they ask you for money. Better to go at night time. Also you can see and buy some traditional food and suvenirs.
Simply a landmark, relatively easy to get there, not very clean and have nothing special. But free anyway.
No point to go there. Difficult to access, have to walk 10 minutes from any door. Then meet strange and annoying people all the way. Always close before the supposed 3pm. If you are lucky to go up, you discover that there is nothing to see but a cloudy city. Better check the museum under the tower.
