We used Apus Peru to plan the Peru portion of our year long trip. They were fantastic in every way. We took the city tour, the four ruins tour, did the Lares Trek, and the Vilcabamba trek with the Machu Picchu add-on. The guides were knowledgeable and passionate about their history. The cook was outstanding, the mule drivers also amazingly... More

We found the number of agencies a bit overwhelming but based on strong reviews here plus a recommendation from Lonely Planet, we went with Apus without even looking at other agencies. It was definitely the right decision. We did two treks (Vilcabamba with the Machu Picchu add-on, and the Ausengate Circuit) and both were awesome. The guides (Willy first week... More

My adult son and I hired this company because they had the most detailed and informative website. We also wanted their back country adventure, which they accurately described as challenging. We did not encounter one other tourist and visited sites seldom seen by tourists. Our guide was a lover of the mountains, the history and a local person with great... More

We just did the five day Classic Trek to Machu Picchu with apusperu.com. Tracy is about 50, I'm 61, and Carmen is 67. We camped in locations which were private and lush, and seldom saw any of the other 489 people who entered the trail the same day we did. The pace was a bit slower, so even Carmen was... More

We basically entrusted our entire Cusco experience to Apus. I am a fairly frequent and adventurous traveler, but I had such a strong feeling that it was worth the small investment to let Apus suggest and ultimaltely organize some options especially because I felt that we have very compatible ideas of how to enjoy a new place, respect and learn... We chose Apus Peru because of their support of the local culture-- they support a school in a local village and share an office with Threads of Peru, an organization that sells fair-trade Andean textiles. This community sense is imbedded in their operations: Our guide, Big Willie, has been leading tours for over 20 years and knows the trails and... More

Apus Peru is a fantastic company to trek with. We did the Salkantay trek (5 days) to Machu Picchu, a wonderful experience. I loved everything about this company, especially that they support and give back to the local communities and people. The initial email communication with their reservation specialist Mandy was so professional and helpful and really helped us plan... More

Two of my sisters, my partner and I, aged 47 to 52, did the Chouquequirao to Machu Picchu 7 days, 6 nights trek - at the beginning of October 2011. A real private, family tour. We chose Apus Peru after having read recommendations on Tripadvisor, and we were very happy with this choice. The communication with reservation staff beforehand were... More

Four of us walked the 9 day Choqueqirao to Machu Picchu trek and I am so glad we chose Apus Peru. Julio Santos was our guide and after meeting Julio at a pre trek briefing I knew we were in for a good trip. He was very enthusiastic and his attention to detail and knowledge of the area was fantastic.... More

The 5-day trek from Vilcabamba to Machu Picchu was an incredible and very enjoyable experience. It was a challenging but beautiful and very memorable trek, Big Willy was a terrific guide, and the cooking was absolutely amazing. More
