After hiking to the sun gate at Machu Pichu this was an easy hike and worth seeing. It falls under the title of "how did they do that". The views along the way are outstanding.

Only about a half mile, but what a hike. No guard rails and straight down. Grow a pair and don't miss this!

Absolutely make sure you take the train from Ollantaytambo and not from Cusco. This is a town that should be stopped in at least one way. The town itself seems to still be in Incan times with the small cobbled streets and amazing feel. The ruins here are also breathtaking (literally) as you climb the steep steps of one of... More

The pueblo of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley is in some ways an equivalent experience to the fabled Macchu Picchu. The Inca bridge and the marvellous ruins make up a sight that justifies a days exploration. Most people do a bus tour from Cuzco so all the buses end up here in the afternoon making it very crowded. A far... More

We visited the lower part of Ollantatambo in the afternoon after spending the morning at teh ruins of Pisac. We were too tired to walk up to the top but we thoroughly enjoyed visiting the lower part and learn about the Inca architecture. Recommend it highl.

The bridge is just like any other old little bridge in Peru. Walk passed the bridge for a great view. Walk on for about 30mins to the INKA POOL (or la piscina Inka). Ask a local or an Awamaki volunteer to take you, you will not find it on your own. The Inka Pool is SURREAL. It is a rectangle... More

The ruins of Ollantaytambo were the first I've ever seen in my life. We were overwhelmed by the greatness, the hight, ... We visited the ruins from two sides. The view from the top makes you wonder how they build this hundreds of years ago.

If the trains to Machu Picchu from Cuzco are booked, you can always take the train from here. Yes, you need to get a taxi from Cuzco, but the cost is not that great and you get another attraction to visit. As others have described, the trail here is steep but well worth it. When you get to the top,... More

In my last visit to Ollantaytambo found that a ceramic artist Lucha Soler - open a studio in the old town . Soler who is presenting and selling very fine ceramics using local clay and hand burnishing. The pieces are original and contemporary. Soler also taught his technique to two other artists in the village and they also are presenting... More
