this is the best part of Romania right now. The most popular spot this is where everything is happening from 8pm til 8 am

It seems so sad that this charming part of the town is now completely overrun with bars offering cheap drinks offers and loud music. Progress needs to come to Romania, but I wonder if this is really the way it needs to be.

Having a historic city center that has concentrated restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops is a no-brainer place to visit. Some of the best restaurants and cafes are her along with the best people watching in town.

The architecture is wonderful and the bars and restaurants plentiful. We actually changed our trip itinerary so we could spend a few extra nights in Bucharest in order to go out a few more times in Old Town.

Awesome place to sit out in front of a restaurant to enjoy a great meal and people watch. The old buildings are beautiful. Some builds are run down and some are top notch. Typical of Romania.

Reviewers are very divided on the merit of visiting the Old City - and rightly so... There are many buildings which are simply dilapidated - where you definitely want to stay away from the facade avoiding the balcony dropping onto your head!! But then there are Stavropoleos Church, the History Museum, CEC Bank and the National Bank - all very... More

Definitely worth a look, especially the small church on the corner, which is ornate and a very good example of an old Orthodox church.

Sorry, but a few ramshackle buildings with some narrow streets that are pedestrianized, and full of bars and smoking chimneys in the form of human beings do not make an Old Town. It is just a figment of the travel writer's imagination who are trying to lure the tourists into an ordinary city like Bucharest that has illusions of being... More

really well preserved and interesting. a bit over committed on bars and eating, but that apparently pays the bills. a few more small shops would be nice.

Little winding streets with a mix of traditional european architecture and public sculptures. Some excellent cafes and restaurants, prices can be a bit higher than elsewhere in Romania but quality and service very good. Look for little gems like the tiny church on Stavropoleos street and castle ruins.
