Banteay Samre was my second favourite of all the temples I visited in Angkor park. In my opinion it is more special even than Ta Prohm and Angkor Wat itself. There is a beautiful energy in the complex and, while smaller than some of the other temples, the carving is so beautiful that it really is a wonderful place to... More

we were tired by the time we got to this temple. But it was worth it. We did our usual wander round, and then as we were leaving we found some very interesting "unfinished" carving ariund the widow openings. It gave us a fantastic insight into the process of the carving as you could see just where they "stopped"

This is a nice temple but it cannot be compared to the most famous ones. If you are visiting with a tuk tuk, it may not be worth the trip as it is a little out of town.

Some of the photos posted by previous reviewers are for Banteay Srei (which is not far from this temple); not for Banteay Samre. Do those people even know where they went? When we visited this temple, it was not crowded (hardly anyone else). See attached photos (no one else in sight). We enjoyed the drive from Siem Reap to this... More

A visit to Banteay Samre can be combined with an excursion to Banteay Srei, which it should precede if possible. The whole trip takes perhaps 2 hours and is best made in the morning.

Don't mix Banteay Srei (the one with the pink-ish coloured stones) with Banteay Samre. Banteay Samre is known as the little Angkor Wat, because is just as beautiful and well preserved. You will need a tuk-tuk to get there, but it is worth it. There are toilet and eating facilities just outside the entrance of this temple and not many... More

Banteay Samre is one of the best preserved temples on the Angkor circuit, but it is surprisingly little visited. In consequence, it is one of the best temples to choose for a visit. There is no visitors' centre or other facilities, and the temple itself is rather isolated. It has often been described as Angkor Wat in miniature, as it... More

Very nice structure with not so big size like other temples. Have a good time to tour thru. It locates remote to other circled temples but really worth visiting
