Other than the night market (for example) this place is a place where you can really relax after busy days in the city. No one bothering you, you can explore on your own, souvenir shops have interesting things to sell. The nature was really impressing, (old incredibly big bamboo, beautiful bridges, small show cabinets show a lot of Chengdu history......

Self-sufficient economy with enough visitors paying entrance ticket. A large communal area for local people and a boost for local environment.

But since we were not up on our Chinese poets much of the tour was wasted upon us. Having said that, it was still helpful to see how people lived in this era though the recreated houses.

An amazing place brought to life by an excellent guide, don't go without one or you will only scratch the surface. Dufu has so much to offer today, let alone in his own time. Take your time it's well worth it, and we are not museum nuts either
