If you are travelling China and you are visiting Beijing or Shanghai too, this place does not differ much to Qiamen of Beijing or Yuyuan Gardens of Shanghai. Very manufactured. If you are just here in Chengdu, it is a different story.

The good food stalls here make up for the fact that this is a very crowded tourist destination, popular with local teens and visiting Chinese tourists. Good people watching and snacking if you can ignore the crowds.

A very interesting reconstruction of an old area, but far too popular and should be avoided on weekends and public holidays. Prices are fixed, which is a relief in China!

Most Chinese cities have an ancient themed tourist area with some local foods, arts/crafts, etc. This is the best one.

Jinli street quite nice, but the temples and park next door where there is a museum and mauseleun for the kingsy/dynast of 3nd century is very good : peaceful and beutiful. 6.0 RMB, a different world only yards from the street

Having now lived in China I realize that everything has been redone. It has a historic feelabout it, but really it is a shopping area where you can snap a couple photos and buy things that are cheaper one street over.
