If you are travelling just to see this you may be dissapointed but even if you are you can still spend a pleasant time in the surrounding streets as they are very much worth a look. That being said it is still worth noting that this is a "working" monastery so to speak and very interesting to see another side... More

As a working monastery, this might be the most interesting temple in the city. It also has a lovely garden where local hang out (the old men like to bring their bird cages with them so their birds can get some fresh air). I've heard the tea house used to be lovely, but unfortunately it's currently under construction. More

Great place not far from the hostel i was staying in, and only a short walk from metro station. Really enjoyable visit here, with plenty to see. Nice village nearby too where you can buy food and souvenirs. More

The monastery from the Tang dynasty, some 1,400 years ago, provides a lovely reverie. Inside the facility there are numerous courtyards located between the buildings. In the courtyards are people igniting essences and offering them up. The courtyards are planted with lovely plants. Within the buildings are many images of Buddhism and its practices. Around the buildings is a lovely... More

We were there on Tomb Sweeping Day so may have been busier than usual, but ended up spending several hours wandering the various courtyards. The restaurant is currently closed for renovation, but a monk walked us down the street to another vegetarian restaurant that was very good. More

Wenshu temple is just at the northern end of Chengdu city, and it is really a lovely peaceful oasis. The temple buildings and grounds are beautiful and with people praying and the smell of incense in the air, it is very relaxing and interesting. Around the temple walls is an area of narrow streets, shops and restaurants, which, although done... More
