The cannons are impressive. The lighthouse in the fort area gives a fantastic view of the town. Some areas need to be cleaned better.

Worth a visit anytime....impressive location and the view from the ramparts are amazing, the surreal feel of the unending sea complemented by azure skies and emerald vegetation of this tropical island. Just sat on the bastions and gazed at the sea imagining those hardy soldiers keeping watch. The Jesuits influence is paramount and the soldier missionary spirit abounds as each... More

Indian forts and museums are generally completely run-down and dirty places. Once you've been to India a few times you learn to see more than what meets the eye. Diu Fort is a great place to walk around, feel and discover the history of the place. It is in better condition than many forts I have visited in India, and relatively... More

There is litter but compared to other Indian attractions, not too much. You can spot crabs from the bit of the fort that extends into the sea and from where you can take a good pic of the Pani Kotha, which sadly is now closed to tourists. You also get a good view of the bridge connecting Diu to Ghogla.... More

The great creation by Portuguese ruined by ASI... Archaeological Survey of India. If you really interested in fort than visit Rajasthan. otherwise in a form of spacial invention to protect from hostile condition miles away from homeland with no drinking water.... must visit to see the courage of fighters and their den.

Kind of nice if u like visiting old worn out forts. They could do better to maintain it a bit considering its one of the very few tourist attractions in Diu .... takes about 2 hours.

Diu was assimilated with India after the British left. Though the portugese opposed this their army was routed. This fort was built by the portugese to protect their strategic maritime interests in India. And enough on history..You can use wikipedia for that. Now Diu fort is sprawling and will take nearly 3 to 4 hours to explore the whole fort.... More
