We went on a boat trip in the reserve and saw many elephants and birds and a couple monitor lizard. The boat ride was just ok and at times seemed very staged, but it was great to see the elephants.

A boat ride in Periyar lake in the morning is most wonderfull experience, its is huge lake. There is a old Raja Mahal in side the Sanctuary and now the Govt is running a resort. We can see all types of animals, We watched elephants, wild dogs, sambhars and different type of birds

it's green, it's scenic, its beautiful. We had to come back twice to get the boat tickets (this was in May which is supposedly off season) and to our disappointment, didn't sight any animal except a few deer and like.

we went with the expectation that if not able to see the tiger, atleast some elephants would serve our cause. It turned out to be a mere boat ride amidst the jungle. The scenery is excellent. You can try your luck if you can spot anything !

We did a 3 week tour of India, and this was one place we were definitely going to go to. We opted to stay in the Hotel Ambadi which was in the town of Thekkady. We booked a day trip into the nature reserve and did a half day trek through the reserve including bamboo rafting. An absolutely wonderful experience,... More

Went on the early morning boat ride and the 7.00 to 10.00 pm walk through the reserve. If there was any wildlife than some birds, the odd deer herd...
