We arose at 4am to head up the mountain from Moni. We snaked our way up the narrow road and arrived in the dark to watch the sunrise (we had a car & driver but you can go by motorbike). The walk from the car park was only around 20mins and not too difficult. There were only around 6 people...

beautiful colored lakes...absolutely worth the visit... as is all the island of Flores...i strongly suggest a car or even better motorcycle ride from labuan bajo to moni, passing through ruteng, bajawa, traditional villages, water falls...sleeping in monasteries and guest houses... so beautiful... best island of Indonesia for sure!!!

View from top is a bit dissapointing even if we were there for sunrize on a sunny day.
So many hours of flight and cars for that is not worth...especially since hotels are terrible.
There are many many better and more accessible volcanos in Java or even Bali / Lombock

The walk from the car park took approx 20 minutes meaning we arrived about 5.45am...

We took a bemo up to Kelimutu one way for 30,000Rp and it took about an hour. The drive up is on a rhin, steep and curvey road but the views of the sea, mountains and rice fields is great. On arrival at the Kelimutu gate you pay 20,000Rp entrance then continue on the drive up. We were left in...
