Hi everyone, Reached Nazareth on one of the glorious sunny days, although the route is not quite well demarcated but we managed our way to find a parking for ourselves near the old city. All the attractions were at a walking distance so we first headed to the church of annunciation . Please do not expect a very old church... More

The architecture of this church is lovely, and the art inside is worth the visit - the art being portraits of Mary from various countries of the world.

Most of this church is new, having been built over older ruins. Best thing to see in Nazerath and would recommend. Make sure to go upstairs for the main church after seeing the older ruins downstairs.

The church was built in 1969, over the sites of earlier churches. The highlights were the wonderful stained glass windows and the Madonnas from different countries around the inside of the church and the surrounding courtyard.

As my husband and I are Greek orthodox, we visited both churches, the Orthodox and the Catholic, and both were amazing, the grounds were kept spotless and it was very interesting to see all the Mary and Child pictures that have been send from all the countries in the world that are in the grounds of the Catholic Church.

This church is built over the grotto where the angel Gabriel is traditionally believed to have visited Mary to announce (hence the term "annunciation") to her that she was carrying the Son of God, and that she will name him Jesus. Out of respect, there is a dress code: Cover your shoulders and legs. Leave your shoes outside. I liked... More

This old church is built over Mary's home. You can see some of the steps/stairs in what was her home.

Very nice Church, It didn't take long to see but worth the stop. Just like everything else in Israel make sure you are ready to walk on uneven roads. Nazareth is VERY busy please go with a tour. To drive by yourself will be a challenge.

I enjoyed seeing the tiled images in the courtyard representing countries from all over the world. They were so well done The stain glass, paintings and sculptures in the sanctuary were beautiful and masterfully done. There was such a blend of textures and styles. Have on good shoes for the steep climb and marble steps.
