and i almost did! it was scorching hot when i visited My Son in mid April. i joined a half day tour, where we took a bus from Hoi An to My Son, sightsee the historical sight, and then a boat ride to Hoi An while stopping at a nearby handicraft village on the way back. If you like ruins,... More

Booked the tour package via hotel - USD13 per pax ( inclusive entrance fee of VND60,000 per person ). It is best to take the earliest 5am tour as you can catch the sunrise along the way and also beats the crowd and the heat. The trip to reach My Son site takes about 45min by van. The tour package... Absolutely fascinating site - incredible building feat. Even the dance show beforehand was fun to watch. Get there early to beat the crowds. More

Definetly worth the $6 - $10 dollars it will cost you to do a tour. Spend extra if you can to go for the early tour. There all of 10 people there plus our guide, it was glorious! Get a window seat on the bus, great photos to be had along the way! More

Incredible array and quite awesome display of the cultures, expertise, and industry of the original Champa people from 4th -13th Centuries, followed by wholesale looting of the treasures by the French (early 20th Century), then there's the unedifying period of 1969 - 1975 with all the devastating bombing and (mindless) destruction (not restricted to any one single side), and now... so much of history-old and new...to know that these ruins are older than Ankor Wat temples and worse still to know what attrocities were commited in the coutry when the bombs destroyed the temples in the 70s with the war and the French chopped off the heads of all the statues,,,just because!! the chma people still exist since the 13th... Take a bottle of water with you and make use of the WC before you walk around. What seems like a 30 minute stroll turns out to be a fabulous two hours! Bus tours turn up about 9.30 so if you want to see it in its glory then go early to avoid the crowds. More

We were fortunate to have a knowledgeable guide who related to us not only the ancient history of the ruins but also the recent significance of the area. The area was heavily bombed during the Vietnam war and you can see the scars of the bombings right next to the remains of the ruins. The day we were there, it... More
