It was cold and snowing on that evening. My face and hands were freezing. But worth to get there anyway! One of the best 3 night views in the world.

Great night scene in clear weather,Lovely souvenir in the shop.Better bring your tripod for taking photos.Day view is also great as night!Take the shuttle bus in front of the JR station at No.4 bus stand.
Love the view. If you are in Hagodate, plan to go to Mount Hagodate before the sunset. You can go by the ropeway up to the top and eat at the restaurant to enjoy the fabulous view of Hagodate. Outside in April is a bit cold and windy but we did enjoy our visit.
Avoid the crowd at night, esp tour groups, by going up around late evening. Can catch sunset as well, and can have great Hakodate view in daylight as well as night view.
beautiful but it was snowing on the day we visited, so didnt have a clear view of the cities. We should have checked the live-cam before we go there.
Well, it was unfortunate that when we went up to the observatory, it was snowing really hard, and visibility of Hakodate down below was almost nothing. Anyhow, it was still an interesting experience as we took the ropeway (cable car) up from below. I think there were around 40 people in the cable car. It was packed so not everyone...

Mt Hakodate offers a excellent view of the Hakodate city, and nothing else. Have a cafe and restaurant, but food wise nothing to sing about. When crowded, maybe difficult to get a good photographing spot.
one of the highlights of the trip was view from mount hakodate - breath taking and definitely picturesque. What I did not fancy was the ropeway ride that seemed to be on fastforward mode - too quick!
proud to telling frens that i been to mount hakodate before. the night view are really beautiful & touching. remember to bring ur coat, the wind are strong and more than cooling.
Easy to catch the bus to the peak - runs evenings from the bus terminal near the station. If you are catching thebtream and plan on watching to the ropeway, the streets are quite steep
