It is a very special experience - stand on the ancient wall, and watch the old city gates, the moats, and in the background ar high rise buildings.

The big acient wall is a nice place to visit and have a relaxing time walking and see the city from above. Every place you go in Xian has a place in history.

When we drove through this very thick wall, I felt like I was in Europe, maybe Rome. I did not expect to see this here but it was very interesting and very large.

For 40rmb you can rent a bike for 100minutes to cycle around Xi'an's city walls. This is a nice way to explore the walls and the views from it (for example the railway station). There are some boring sections so I would not recommend walking.

Get yourself some picnic food, get on the wall, get yourself a bike and enjoy the ride. This has to have been one of the most impressive sites on our china holiday. Certainly one that flies under the radar. Being on the wall is like being in a totally different place. An oasis in Xian.

If you have the time, you can bicycle the 15 Km all around the city. This is the only wall which can be bicycle. And it give you a very good advantage point to look at the city. Excellent

One of the highlights of our visit to Xi'an. Bike rentals are on top of the wall near each of the entrances. It's a nice 16 km trip around, with photo ops at many different spots. You get to see all of the city.
